Membership Information

Our association effects real change which benefit all U.S. aquaculture farmers through coordination with Congress, federal staff, agriculture organizations, and academic institutions. 

Each year, NAA Board of Directors and friends walk the hill to lobby congress on behalf of U.S. aquaculture.

In 2024, NAA held meetings with 43 Congressional offices, spoke at 31 different aquaculture community and stakeholder events, organized 20 federal agency meetings and submitted 41 public comment letters!

• Catastrophic Disaster Assistance - The NAA assisted farms and associations to successfully apply for or appeal unfavorable agency decisions on the USDA Emergency Livestock, Honey-Bee and Farm-Raised Fish Program (ELAP).
• Transportation - The NAA reversed a USDA Export program decision to stop endorsing health certificates. We are working on a long-term, permanent solution that recognizes excellence in aquatic animal health management. We are also working with an Agricultural Livestock Coalition to exempt aquaculture live haul from DOT hours-of-service rules.
• Research - The NAA is conducting a two-year programmatic review of the five USDA Regional Aquaculture Centers to recommend improvements to USDA and support additional funds for applied research answering farmer questions and solving on-farm challenges.
• Regulation - The NAA successfully challenged the use of environmental DNA sampling as a state regulatory tool and are challenging federal use of eDNA for surveillance, regulation and public reporting.

NAA Friday at the Lab features the latest aquaculture research updates pertinent to industry.

In partnership with the World Aquaculture Society, the NAA hosts producer driven special sessions each year at the Aquaculture America conference.

The NAA network connects your business to aquaculture farms, suppliers and organizations all across the nation!

Membership provides you with the opportunity to connect your business and products with others in the U.S. aquaculture sector and consumers.

Participation and input from members to the NAA’s priorities and programs is essential.

NAA conduct membership surveys to collect national level information and provide critical feedback to federal agencies which guide their priorities, such as research or communications.

Individual, Supplier and Association members have access to create and update a directory profile for marketing your products to the general public and other members. Members can create a profile for U.S. aquaculture farms, U.S. aquaculture suppliers or both!
